My tomatoes are just not ripening and are beginning to rot on the stems, so I have picked them.
But, I don’t really like chutney anyone got any tried and tested ideas for me?

Nothing useful to say? How unusual!
put them in a bag or closed box with a banana. The ethylene given off by the banana will trigger ripening in the tomatoes.
Even if you don’t like chutney you could make some as gifts. I have used this Nigel slater recipe several times and the resulting chutney is really nice. There is also a chicken recipe below it that uses green tomatoes.

Stick them in a paper bag, with at least 1 ripening one, in a drawer (or anywhere confined out of the light) and they will ripen. Apparently it's a chemical reaction. I've done it for years - it works.
^^^ The trick is not to forget they are there - done that too. :(
Just leave them on a tray indoors somewhere - we've been doing this fr years and they always ripen. No need for the banana/paper bag idea.

I will try ripening them indoor but I don’t hold out much hope. I have not had 1 ripe tomato this year
I remember from when I was little, loads of house had green tomatoes on their window sills, hoping to get them ripe
Buy one - it will do the trick.
