I have the rank number of a friend in the armed forces and I need to contact them. I don't actually know where they are based at the moment, just their regiment, rank and number. If I sent a card/letter would it get to them???? Any advice very very welcome... Thanks in advance.. x x
Its quite possible that they can't at the moment get in touch, all depending where they are, (official secrets and all that),, but if, as you say, you know their regiments, you mail will get to them.
scatty thats brill but being very blonde, as i am, can you repeat your answer and put XXXXXXXX's in the bits I should fill in.......eg.
service No Rank Name: xxxxxxxxxx
Unit/regiment: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Operation Name: xxxxxxxxxxxx
BFPO No: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The reason being I only have some of this info, i don't know the operation number, I do know he is in this country and due to leave the forces any time, if he left will the army send on any letters. etc
I'm not 100% sure, but I would imagine if you know his regiment, rank and No, that your letter would still get to him. Address your envelope as below, but don't add any information to the effect that you know he's in the UK.
e.g.
987654 Corporal Smith
A Company
1st Battalion
The Royal Artillery
BFPO 123
