Thinking about it now though, as the clue said it is round then perhaps the answer is simply " cushion?"

A bolster is round in cross-section, so perhaps where 'round' comes into it?

When I was growing up we had a bolster on our beds, it was just like an extra long (oblong) pillow.
You often get cushions that are round.
