Cmd.exe Start Ie Not Edge

Hi all, I have a shortcut I have created on my desktop which starts YouTube in Edge, the 'Target' path is this:

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c start microsoft-edge:http://www.youtube.com

Does anyone know what I need to change to open it in Internet Explorer, instead?

I would assume you need the path and filename to replace microsoft-edge.

But I've never tried it. Can you pass URLs to IE ?

I have the same issue as this person, but I want to open in IE, not Edge. Assumed I would just need to amend that small part of the code to say "start: IE" not "start: Edge", you know?

Just type the following into a shortcut. No need to use cmd, but you can if you want to.

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" www.bbc.co.uk

Even simpler:

Open Internet Explorer.

Go to Youtube.

Reduce the size of the window, so that you can see the desktop as well.

Drag and drop the little red Youtube favicon (immediately to the left of the URL) onto your desktop.

Job done.

I still reckon that'd open in the default browser not the defined one. Surely one needs to refer to the browser of choice (IE) in the command ?

IE has not been maintained for considerable time. Sites increasingly don't work properly on it. Give it up.

Microsoft is replacing Edge with a Chromium based browser early next year.
