Richard Coyle got a better offer, basically. He's turning up in lots of Proper Dramas these days, and doesn't have the time to do Coupling anymore.

I always got the impression he was a little embarrased by Jeff - and who wouldn't be! Plus Jeff is a tough act to live down if you do him for too long. I do miss him though.
