The biggest scamming charity of all is the useless NSPCC. They get millions for doing virtually nothing. Phone them with any concerns, and all they say is contact social services or call the police. They don't do anything that social services don't do. Remember the issue of the professional footballers? About 150 of them? Lots of them contacted the NSPCC before contacting anyone else. They all said the NSPCC were wonderful and sympathetic and told them to contact the police or social services. That's all they ever do. Nowt else. Sympathetic? Pathetic, more like.
In recent years, the golf club where I am a member, has supported Broughton House, Help for Heroes, Northwest Air Ambulance, Pendlebury Childrens' Hospital, amongst others.
If I'm in a pub and there's an old geezer sitting in the corner, and he looks to be around WW2, I'll buy him a beer, and walk out with a smile and a wave. :0)
I donated £250 to the Voluntary Coastguards who rescued me. Then I got an email asking if I fancied joining. I live an hour from the sea so that would be a long wait for me to rock up in an emergency. I also give to the Great North Air Ambulance. That all except my cast off clothes go to the sally bash.
I donate monthly to Battersea Dogs and Cats home and Dogs Trust even though I'm not even a dog person! Lol
Last year me and some work colleagues created care packages for the homeless that were given out at Xmas. Doing the same again this year and also thinking of volunteering at a soup kitchen for a couple of days but thats not set in stone yet.
