We have supermarkets that almost dominate fuel stations. Most other private stations have gone to the wall, that's never a good situation for the customer. Hence you need the private enterprise or you see the price hikes.
I believe the big knobs at TC bought other travel companies, the co.op being one of them, along with others, as far back as the last recession. This was at a time when a lot of folk stopped booking holidays over seas. You do have to ask why, when TC was also struggling at that time as well. Maybe a lot to do with shares, ( you no) make a killing overnight for the directors, along with a few back handers I suspect.
