Hot Feet At Night
11 Answers
Please can anyone suggest anything which might help with this problem ?
I am 87, not a diabetic, in pretty good health and reasonably active. I think this condition is common in older people and might have something to do with peripheral neuropathy.
I had a knee replacement 10 months ago which triggered off sciatic nerve pain in the operated leg and that is now kept in check with Pregabalin. But the hot sensation is in both feet and is troublesome at night.
It started some months ago just in the evenings but in the past fee weeks has troubled me at night.
Any suggestions most welcome - thank you.

Not enough information.
Are you on any drugs and have you any underlying medical conditions?
Do you drink or smoke?
It could be a side effect of Pregabolin which you must continue for the pain.
Peripheral neuropathy certainly may cause your type of symptoms, but the commonest cause of PN is Type 2 diabetes and this yousay you are not suffering from. The are other causes of PN which can be excluded by a blood test.
Make sure that your feet do not itch, as a fungal infection can causes this.
Have you mentioned this to your GP?
The treatment depends upon the cause but i would suggest taking Ibuprophen 400mgms before you go to bed at night.

My feet tend to get really hot, I find this good:

It doesn't need chilling beforehand but when it's hot out I have it in the fridge until I need to use it and it's really lovely and cold. It does have a weight to it with whatever is inside it but I find it fine to lay over my feet as well as under them.
