Lenin's Atheism

When Lenin, (so much admired by some of our current prominent politicians!) seized power in 1917, the Bolsheviks integrated atheism into their vision of heaven on earth. The dream of mass atheism seemed the key to Russia's salvation, but it was not to be & there is now a resurgence of orthodox & for all I know, other religious observances in Russia.
New atheists - several on AB - seem to espouse a secular nation.
The philosopher George Santayana once famously said, "Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it." Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat its mistakes., those who do not read history are doomed to repeat it.
Do atheists, not understand this object lesson?

The book will be called 'The Godless Utopia' when it's published shortly. I only have the author; Roland Elliott Brown's comments to go on. More when I get the book.
Regardless of the book, you own original thoughts would be good.
Question Author
My thoughts coincide on many points with R. Brown, as yours do with R. Dawkins
I agree with Dawkins on some things, not on others, but I don’t depend upon him or anyone else to tell me what to think and say. It appears you’re stymied on this one – until you’ve read the book. Why is that?
Question Author
Errr.. until I read the book, I won't know his thoughts ...innit?

& btw, I haven't "pinched" anything; facts like Solzhenitsyn's, 'Men Have Forgotten God' speech & Lenin's statements & views, which I have quoted are all in the public domain.
But what about YOUR thoughts, Khandro?

I know it's all in the public domain... well, all except the bit you made up about Lenin .... but without an acknowledgement no one knows that - unless they smell a rat and take the trouble to look.
Anything lifted off the internet should have an acknowledgement of where it is from. That is just standard, surely?
Question Author
The text is here, but nothing specific has been quoted from it (except the title).

Thank you... what an odd man, though. He seems to have begun with his conclusion that man is ignoring God, and gone backwards from there.
Atheism may have been a part of the Communist vision, but Communism is not a part of any atheist vision. This entire post is founded on a deliberate attempt to make the two positions essentially synonymous, when they are clearly not.

Not by me; it might be possible to have a secular society which isn't Communist, but the (big C) Communist countries; e.g. former USSR, China, N. Korea etc. are/were all Communist, it's part of the ideology which dictates to unfortunate populations of these countries to worship their leaders & nothing else.
America, not communist, is kicking God out of the public spaces and out of American life, and it's not doing them much good.
Can't say I've noticed that^.

Me too; having visited the US few times & worked there, Christianity, in various forms, & latterly Islam, seem to be thriving.
