Er, what reduction in passenger safety (and what's the Government got to do with it anyway)?
There are rail routes all over the country that operate on a driver-only basis. (e.g. the vast majority of trains running into Liverpool Street have no guards). Their safety record is just as good as that of trains with guards on board.

the government has nothing to do with it
however the hoi polloi
still link industrial action as pro labour and anti tory
and as for passenger safety i am sure in certain areas of the country the lack of guards on trains make little difference to the safety level on trains , but then in certain parts of the country the lack of police on the street or in the area makes little difference on the crime rates

Oooo Johnny, on this occasion you are completely wrong. You’ve got the wrong end of the stick entirely.
Industrial action = disenchantment with the current government – aka nasty Conservatives.
LibDems little chance = someone else (aka Labour) better.
Corbyn getting Brexit sorted within six months but Conservative poo pooing it = good old Jeremy – nasty Conservatives.
Had you watched the National News, in particular the report from Laura Kuenssberg talkig about thousands of people struggling to keep hearth and home together – or words to that effect - you would have seen what in fairness can only be described as a party political broadcast against the Conservative party.
If anyone who is anyone at the BBC reads your post they're going to be sooo disappointed. Epic fail.

You happened to forget to mention that the Postal union who bankrolls Corbyn and his party will also be walking out. My Birthday on 29/11/ boo hoo.Just a taste of Labour's henchman and the control they hope to wield over the country if,God forbid, they get into power. It wont be Corbyn running the country. It will be the unions pulling his strings. :-(
Unions are seen as Labour supporting. And they are.
If the unions chose to strike (except Dec 12th apparently) then when disruption hits, Labour support will go down.
Because rightly, strikes are about labour and how much more the union is looking to demand.
The pilots strike has been called off because the union realised that with what’s going on in the country right now they wouldn’t be able to squeeze more out.

Re guards on trains and the belief that they are utterly unnecessary...here's what happened to my wife on a train out of Waterloo a couple of years ago.
She found herself in a carriage with only two other passengers. One of them suddenly slumped in his seat and - being a first-aider at her work-place - she approached him and did what she immediately could to assist him, also alerting the remaining passenger.
She then set off to find the guard, in the knowledge that there actually was one aboard.
When she did find him, he immediately assessed the situation and phoned ahead to the next station to get personnel there to arrange for an ambulance to meet the train.
The last she saw of her "patient" was him being stretchered off - presumably to hospital or other medical facility capable of providing suitable treatment. Whether he "made it" or not she never found out.
Maybe one day, if YOU are one of the people who imagine guards are a money-wasting frippery, you'll meet a similar situation as first-aider or invalid. See what you think then!
