I thought it was a very pale impression of Golden Compass and the actors lacked presence. I didnt think the lady from the affair was anywhere near good enough for the Nicole Kidman part.

book of dust, first book, totally gripping, second book - im only 1/2 way through but good so far. i think it a shame if only the first book as book 2 and 3 are by far superior (although superior to"excellent" of course!)
