Parcel Hiding Place

We don’t order much online mainly because of the nuisance of having to be in to take delivery. We would buy much more if we could somehow overcome this problem.
We live at the end of a very quiet close and have a security camera. There have never been any burglaries and we rarely get any flyers or junk mail. We’ve been pondering on getting some sort of container or something, for parcels to be put in when we’re out but aren’t terribly keen on the idea. Our neighbours are out and about as much as we are so we couldn’t/wouldn’t rely on them taking parcels in for us.
I just wondered what other people do in a similar situation.

A few years ago I was awaiting a parcel that I had tracked. They said they had delivered it but they hadn't. I phoned them and asked what they did with the parcel.
They said they had left it on the dustbin. I told them it wasn't there, I asked which number did they deliver to they told me 41 I don't live at 41 I have a letter after my number. There are a lot of 41's. 9 in fact. I went and had a look at the bins at that house. It wasn't there but it was bin day and the bins were empty. If the parcel had been left there it went off with the bin men.
I did complain and I did get a replacement.
My sons package was delivered...two days later!! Too late for the weekend away he was going on (Just clothes for outdoor activities like rock climbing)

We decided we couldn’t let this affect our shopping so bit the bullet today, left a gate open and a note on the door. Success, delivery happened, parcel left behind gate, all good. Helps having a cctv camera as it pings us when someone walks down our drive and we could view the delivery guy.
Thank you for all your suggestions and anecdotes, I really think we just needed to do it, and relax.
glad you got your delivery. I just get mine delivered down shared alleyway.

Thanks Tony, good that you have a suitable delivery place. I think it must be a generation thing for us, just not used to doing it....must try harder :)
lol Vagus no problem but you did say your street was quiet.
I tend to wait in if I have parcel coming but one day the delivery man came early and put a note through the letterbox saying he had left parcel in the wheelie bin, well firstly the bin is not all that clean and can get smelly after 2 weeks and secondly we get people rummaging in our bins !
I often get asked by postpersons if I'll sign for someone else's mail. I do if I know them; not if I don't.
jno on one odd occasion even taken dry cleaning in for neighbours lol.
