We are off to tenerife in a couple of weeks and have a few hundred pounds which we saved through out the year, pennies and coins etc,

So we are looking to change it in to euros and are looking for the best rate on the high street.

my oh went on line in September and got a good rate with Debenhams but they change all the time
You can look up exchange rates on the internet. It's the easiest way to find the best deal.

I doubt if anyone will accept hundreds of pounds in loose change though!
Not the best rate but still competitive and more likely to accept cash I'd use the Post Office. We always get our travel money from them.

John Lewis for me. Rates are nearly always the best on the High St.
I can smell a " Rat " with this post.
There was a time when I used to change a lot of currency & I made lots of comparisons. I always found the best rates - though this may not be convenient for you - was from those Indian guys in the kiosks opposite Paddington station.
I've always found the better rates are in the country I am visiting except in the hotels.

Thanks for all your answers, everywhere ive looked seems to be 1.14 euros to the pound, we are all inclusive anyway but plan on going out a couple of times and on some trips.
Just pay by debit card then. No real need for cash.
Get cash from ATM you should get offered the days conversion rate. Some ATM have the option for more than 4 PIN numbers. If this happens just put in your 4 and confirm
I only take enough money for a few days and then we use our card.
Where we live the best rate lately seems to be TUI. If using a card you have to be careful as many, but not all charge for taking cash out. Even using a pre-paid card which you pay a euro or two to take money out can attract an extra fee in a few places.
