plugged in laptop it says resuming windows shuts down after about 6 .secosdn
.tried it with battery in same prob would it be the battery or port

Quite likely. Does it not show battery charge before shutting down ? Try a different charger, or battery. Try the charger on a different laptop. Try to isolate where the issue lies.

yes the battery light shows before shutdown

If you don’t have a spare battery or charger and you’re sure the charging light on the laptop is illuminated remove the battery plug in the charger if it starts it’s probably the battery if it doesn’t it could be the charger. There is always the chance that there is a problem with the laptop

the charging light in on --did a .start up repair n0 luck--
another thing==i got it up and running to do that i have to keep the charger pressed in == the second i take my finger off the charger it shuts down ta

Is it the sort of laptop where you can take the battery out and (leaving the battery out) start the laptop just plugged in to the mains?

If you mean holding the charger plug into the laptop then you have a faulty connection in either the charger plug or the laptop socket

taken battery out can get on line touch the charger shuts down

You haven’t made it clear where you are touching the charger
If you are touching the mains cable that supplies the power then the lead is faulty
If you are touching the body of the charger then there is a fault with the charger
If you are touching the plug that fits into the laptop then you have a faulty connection in either the charger plug or the laptop socket
