My youngest son's ex girlfriend whom I'm still friends with has told me she has the above gene and has been booked in for an hysterectomy already just days after getting results.
I am sad for her, but it doesn't mean the end as she has taken it really badly.

And your friend is ok otherwise?
She is now but she’s had a double mastectomy and a full hysterectomy, she lives a full and happy life though Sharon and she has her 3 girls of course , it’s sad your young friend has to endure this but better be safe than sorry
That is sad for her, I hope that all goes well.
This is not something I've heard of before but it also doesn't seem rare with other users having known people involved with the gene.

What's it all about?
TD it’s a cancer gene found in females and usually hereditary
How awful.
Men can have it too.
Yes, of course they can, sorry
Men can get breast cancer

Really, really sad for her. She seems to think she's gonna die soon.
I told her just look at Angelina Jolie.
It must be a terrible shock to a young person Sharon, but they’ll only have done this as an insurance policy that’s she won’t contact the illness
I presume she's actually having removal of the entire lot (TAH / BSO)?

BRCA2 is also associated with an increased risk of bowel cancer, pancreatic cancer and melanoma. It's a total swizz.
Risk reducing bilateral mastectomy might be next. It's what I would go for. A good reconstruction afterwards and a life without fear.
