Lansoprazole

I am on Lansoprazole for acid in the stomach, I am awaiting results of stool test for H. Pylori which I have before and done eradication treatment. Problem is on third day of Lansoprazole (yesterday) I was in terrible pain, husband wanted me to go to A&E but didn't want to sit there for hours in pain. I took Buscopan twice which calmed it down, I haven't taken medication today see what happens. Can anyone give me any help what the best thing to do regarding pain. I am dreading taking eradication treatment agai n.

It is interesting that Buscopan eased your pain.
If waiting for a H.pylori test to come back, then a gastric ulcer is clearly suspected in which case an antacid, any OTC antacid such as Maalox could be used as a temporary relief or if that doesn't relieve the pain, resort to buscopan, which may suggest a different diagnosis..e.g IBS.

Thanks Sqad, it was the intensity of the pains that worried me but then I know you can have bad pains with wind. I do have IBS.

My son in law was taken off Lansoprazole, as it caused IBS.

Thanks Patsy, trouble with a lot of meds they can cause another problem. I was on Omeprazole similar to Lansoprazole previously but it made me confused at night, I thought I still lived with my parents, considering I've been married 57 years that was some surprise

I had eradication treatment for H.Pylori 4 or 5 times before it actually went away. It's a friggin nightmare. I hope your results come back as negative. I was on Omeprazome (an ever increasing dose) and sometimes Lansoprazole for a few years as I had a sliding hernia that was causing horrendous reflux. I had an op in the end, it was the only thing that worked for me.
I can't say that any of the PPIs that I took had any noticeable side effects.
Have you had a gastroscopy?

Thanks Rocky, as you say 'a nightmare'. I haven't had a gastroscopy. Did you find Omeprazole better than Lansoprozole regarding side effects?
