Well, one of Benny Hill's dancing Girl's (Jane Leeves) ended up going to America and becoming one of TV's highest paid actresses when she got the part of Daphne in Frasier

I think they're still going strong in Vegas, but Paul Verhoeven's atrocious movie "Showgirls" probably ruined every shred of credibilty for the art form ;-).

I suppose they're still around, dancing in all those big-budget stage musicals.

It's just that there don't seem to be any shows on TV nowadays with girls dancing in the background. Has it been abolished, or are the politically-correct BBC and TV companies afraid that there will be pickets of feminists outside the studios?
