Turned up today for my voluntary work at the local foodbank this morning, to be greeted with excitement that Stoke City FC were turning up with a donation...alongside the local press, radio etc.. So glad that I was out on the van at the time that they were due to turn up.
Got back to be greeted with people showing me selfies with Ryan Shawcross etc (think that was his name, not a football fan. Couldn't name you a football player if you put a gun to my head)
Just don't understand all this celebrity business. I couldn't of cared less if the entire Royal Family had turned up!!

Not a question as such I know. Just don't get all this celeb cobblers. I was quiet happy to be out on the van collecting donations from 'ordinary' people who don't feel the need to make a show and dance of things.

Agree 100 % BM.
Perhaps I havnt made my point adequetly.
Was simply saying that I dont understand 'hero' worship. Nothing more.
When Frankie Vaughan opened our youth club my mum dragged me along to cheer and wave.....she stood behind me and pushed my arm to the front so he could shake my hand....

When I was a nipper Frankie Vaughan opened a youth club not to far from us, he left with a Black eye !
You're right Nailit, they are 'just a bloke like you' who would also doubtless prefer to be spending their run up to Christmas vegging out in front of the Telly instead of getting mobbed, demanded at, pulled at, asked ridiculous questions, having to mind every last. little. thing. they say or do, from free because they are trying to help someone or something that they think is a worthy cause, with odd people being upset or irritated because they are doing it. there's a real inverted snobbery with some people about folks who are well known and it's not nice tbh. Peace x
Wow...what did you mum do, Tony?.... ;-)
Your mum....that should be...x
Was my Grand mother I think, gness ;-)
Your Granny Hanbagged Frankie?

He did a lot for charities, met him twice.
I think she mistook the youth club opening for the wrestling at the social club, Mamya. She was handy with that handbag of hers I'll tell ya ask Jackie Pallo.
You may not understand hero worship, but it has its place. I know of someone who became an excellent footballer, who played with both feet because of something Matt Busby (a hero to him) said. There is a lot to be said for those in the public eye inspiring others.

Sometimes adulation can lead to inspiration. And that is no bad thing.

They should have turned up with a 50k cheque from bet365
You manage to name drop Ryan Shawcross tho.
Just saying. Celebrity names do count for something

//My question wasnt anything to do with me anyway.//

Don't be so modest, Nailit. Every thread you post is designed to come back to your favourite subject.........you. (with the attendant cooing from the Nailettes)
How dare a mere footballer come along and take the spotlight off you.
Talbot- //should have turned up with a 50k cheque from bet365//

Might well have done from what I've previously heard.
Yes I was right
