I normally fly Easyjet, but have booked a short break away flying Ryanair. Apart from the add ons. Their boarding passes are eating up my printer ink. They have a solid blue background. When my print out is set to a small scale, and black and white, first pass is blue then a pass in black. I’ve got the passes downloaded to my phone but wanted a backup. I don’t think my printer will print a black and white copy like EasyJet’s
Ryanair are happy to accept boarding passes printed out on mono printers (because most offices, and many homes, have mono laser printers) and I've never encountered any colour printer that can't be instructed to work as a mono one.
After pressing Ctrl-P (or File > Print), click on 'Properties' and look for an option to use monochrome printing. (With my Canon printer it's labelled 'Grayscale printing'). Tick that box and your printer will work in mono only.
Yes, to the best of my knowledge, so long as you have checked in and attempted to print a boarding pass, Ryanair and others will print (or write although that's a new one to me) at the check-in desk a replacement free of charge.
Thanks to all. On checking the properties option Chris. That’s how the passes were printed. Solid black background. Tor’s Tora Tora. Thanks for that. Cropping might be the best option. Cut out and print just the bar code.
