We met someone decided we liked them, went out for a drink and it went on from there.
Not now though.
According to granddaughters, you meet someone you quite like. Then you have to talk to them for a while. Then get to know them properly. Then decide what you want from a relationship with them. It can take up to two months before you are classed as boyfriend and girlfriend.
It certainly was easier in our day!

But first they have to pass the social media / internet test. I was gobsmacked when I found out from the 20somethings who I work with that people don’t chat each other up in bars and pubs anymore. They”re just places to meet somone who’s passed the first hurdle. I despair.
People still meet in pubs without the internet. I see it quite a lot.

What the internet has done is made it easier for men to ask women out. That's a nerve wracking thing to do face to face.

My kids are young adults and they've met their partners in pubs or through friends but my son met his current GF through Tinder. They spoke for a week, realised they had mutual friends and neither were after a hook up so met up. 18 months later they are still together.

Typing to someone is not that much different than giving someone your phone number.

I've never been on a proper date...
Really! Jeez. Isn’t it a bit of natural selection taking place tho, in terms of confidence in going up to someone you’ve never met and starting a convo?
I agree Caran, much nicer in the crustier days lol
I suppose it depends what pubs you go to Zacs :-)

My cousin is in a relationship with my OH's nephew and now she's pregnant. They really got to know each other in her dads pub...I think they should ban pubs because this situation is a mind ****

If I really explained the situation between us all it sounds very complicated :-)
If only it had stopped at the mind........
I’m sure there are exceptions but the 20somethings all confirmed that there’s little or no chatting up goes on. How bizarre. Glad my pulling days are long gone and we’re more conventional.
Totally agree with you Caran.
Whatever happened to 'lust at first sight'?
those were the days
seventies - if you were kicking the dog or beating a machine that went 'bink' and would go er 'bonk'

someone would certainly quip - stop treating it like a young lady you have just met at the pub!

ter daaah!
// and now she's pregnant. They really got to know each other in her dads pub.//

aand you are sure that there is something in the pub umm that made her pregnant ?

[sozza sozza umm, I know you find my one-liners as Definitely Not Funny]
