Ian Blackford whining on about different dependence as usual, fellow Scott points out 55% of voters in Scotland voted for parties that want to remain in the UK. Oh dear!

Sturgeon, as Deputy First Minister, signed the Edinburgh Agreement in 2012 which set the terms for the 2014 referendum and agreed to respect the result. Obviously she has not done so. I am Scottish and live in Scotland. The atmosphere at the time of the 2014 referendum was intimidating and toxic. I do not wish to go through that again. I voted to stay in the UK and...

At the end of the financial year ending March 2019, UK general government gross debt was an eye-watering, £1,821.3 billion, equivalent to 85.2% of gross domestic product (GDP) a proportion of which is of course, "Scottish" debt.
And that's just one simple demonstration of the hopeless way the SNP has approached their quest. Even if just 5% of that debt was attributable to Scotland upon independence (and that's probably a vast underestimate) that means Scotland will start its new life with £90bn of debt. With no currency to control and no central bank "of last resort", what are the owners of that debt to do?
I don't believe thinking up threats to make things difficult if, by some amazing occurrence, there was a split, is the right way to go. One benefits from friendship rather than animosity. (Especially to fellow Brits.) Scotland would be in enough mire without making things worse. And one can hardly criticise the appalling behaviour of the EU with regards to Brexit yet look to inflict similar on Scotland, should they ill-advisadly secede. One trusts these are academic questions only though as, as the previous referendum showed, the majority know it would make no sense, it's just a sizable minority that dream of cutting themselves off from the rest of the UK.

But the issue raised by Khandro is not a threat of any kind, OG. It is a realism that must be confronted by the SNP (and the Scottish people) if independence is gained.
Well said, NJ
It's not a single post, scattered throughout the thread are posts saying similar to, "If they go we could do x and y and ...", implying, "That'll teach them".

These are not realities unless chosen to be so. They are thinly veiled threats.
