Indian Visa
4 Answers
Hi, just looking at applying for an indian visa.
i started filling in the info on the site here which was the top google hit.
https:/ /indian visaonl ine.gov .in/vis a/index .html
but for a visa website some of the questions and the layout of the pages doesn't seem right.
have also come across this one in google second or third down
http:// in.vfsg lobal.c o.uk
might be me getting a little security jittery with my info.
can anyone advise on the correct site and any useful tips on applying.
I notice the photo has to be a certain size, in the online demos on one site they show you how to crop a photo to the right size for digital upload, but if i do this with a passport photo it literally ONLY shows head from chin to top of head, with no shoulders at all, is this ok?????

Both of those sites are mentioned on the Indian Embassy official website. As far as I can remember I used this one when I applied a couple of years ago.

I filled in the forms online and then printed them off and took them to their offices. UK passport photo's are the wrong size, all I did was go down to our local passport photo shop (not a booth) and specified Indian Visa sizes, they will know and make the necessary adjustments. I think it cost me about a £5 and gave me a couple extra for next time.

what about the e-tourist visa, i am travelling as a third stop on a round world trip, as yet i haven't booked any travel arrangements at all but hope to be travelling to India from Sri Lanka/colombo. i do not know the airport yet and have no hotels booked.
The websites state don't make any travel arrangements BEFORE getting an indian visa so i am in a little bit of a catch 22 situation.
what should i put for the address of stay if i am backpacking and as yet have no confirmed accommodation let alone a date or flights booked.
