Ruptured Baker's Cyst

Confirmation from my GP that the baker's cyst i have had for years has ruptured. My calf and ankle are very painful and very swollen making it difficult to walk. I appreciate there is nothing to be done but does anyone have any experience as to how long this might go on.
She also drew fluid off what she called an arthritic effusion. It was a pinky colour. I have Naproxen to take together with Lanspoprozole.

Been there, done that so I know how jolly painful it is. Took me a couple of weeks to be able to walk semi-normally but then any lengthy walk would make it swell up again. This went on for about 3 months.

Thanks for the responses. Didn't realise the swelling would be so bad or last for so long. Feels like dragging a lead weight around, plus the pain. Oh well, just have to grin and bear it.

I should have added- try to keep your leg elevated as much as possible when sitting down. The biggest setback I had was having to sit in a plane for 3 hours on the tarmac (air traffic controllers messing about) plus a 3-hour flight afterwards - leg ginormous at the end of it.
