.............the last day of the decade. The last day of the decade is Dec 31st 2020. Why? Because at the end of today, there will only have been 19 years in this century. For it to be the end of the second decade, it would have to be Dec 31st 2020. 1 to 10 = 10 years. 11 to 20 = 10 years. Simples! ;o)
Happy New Decade! Er, 'ang on :o(

The reasoning behind horses all having the same D.O.B. is that many of the 'Classics' are age specific. For instance, all horses born in 2018 will be entered in races as 2 year olds this year, irrespective of the month in which they were born.
In answer to Woofgang, most thoroughbred foals are born March to May.
Correct Ken. Another point regarding the Southern Hemisphere beginning their classifications later in the year. The best time for horses to be foaled is in the spring. Winter in the South is of course 6 months or so later in the year than ours .......hence they "age" horses from a different perspective than we do to suit there own racing calendar. It is another reason why Southern Hemisphere horse rarely, if ever, run in our group races that have age, particularly 2 & 3 year old, restrictions.
