Rape Hypocrisy?
Britain’s worst rapist, Reynhard Sinaga has been convicted and hopefully will spend the rest of his life jail.
But in this case, he preyed on drunk young men, giving them a room for the night, then spiking their drinks with GHB.
If his victims had been women, there would be plenty of people who would say that the victims were partially to blane for getting into that state’.
Where are those voices now?
Is this hypocrisy?

Can they be blamed for being sexually abused / raped? No of course not but maybe there were steps they could have taken to avoid such a scenario, such as having a drinking buddy, spare charger, a friend to go home with or a lift / ride share from a taxi / uber or friend.
This isn't blaming them but opening others eyes for how to avoid such situations in the future.

People who are intoxicated (alcohol or other substances) and drive are prosecuted. Those who do not commit any crime in such a state are simply a nuisance and sometimes/often are forgiven their actions because they were not fully in control of themselves.
For a few decades of their lives men are under the extremely powerful influence of their hormones. Their hormones drive them toward women (with some exceptions), they are in a sense permanently intoxicated. Upbringing usually impresses on them that they must exercise some/certain control/judgement but this is not always sufficiently clear (the Swedes actually considered a "Yes" in writing being the only guarantee against accusations of rape). Also, and that is the issue, not everyone manages to exercise sufficient control all the time.
Maybe it is time for society to broaden the discussion about harassment/molestation/abuse/rape to include whether counteracting the effects of hormone is the way to go ("something in the water") and/or seeing certain actions in the light of intoxication (the derangement defence). If so, why not at the same time consider how women react to their drive and how society usually forgives them the consequences (almost always for some of them) ?
For sure, the same criteria should apply to everyone.

I mean this as a comment not a criticism. I think that among men there can be a belief that "it can't happen to me, I am a bloke" I used to work in the NHS in the community. All of the team that I worked with was female except for one bloke. He was a sensible man, mid 30's built like a brick outhouse. We used to do most of our visits single handed. We had lone worker policies and training and all of us women were very careful. One day when we came into work our manager told us that our male colleague would be off sick for a while because he had been attacked and injured. He had been stopped on a quiet lane, lured from his car and attacked by a man with a piece of timber. It turned out that the attacker had mental helth problems and a grudge against gthe NHS. He had waited near a local hospital for someone in uniform to come out and waylaid him. When he came back to work he talked to us about it and honestly said that he believed that it couldn't happen to him because he was a bloke. He admitted that he hadn't even thought to take the precautions that all the rest of us would have done without a second thought.

Men's biochemistry is different to womens.
The hormonally-induced biological imperative in not seen as a justifiable excuse for crime.
Maybe women could use the hormonally-induced menstrual cycle as an excuse for a crime ?
Nothing to do with the continual, overt sexualization of most humans from day 1 then, that's fine; keep pumping in the porn, smut, fashion and glamour, but hey, make those kids aware so when the hormonal changes hit them they will know how to 'act'.
