Go to Apple menu then About this Mac That will tell you the model of your mac. Now click on System Report - that will tell you what connections you have. You could also copy the serial number and put it in https://everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/? Let us know which mac you have and we can find out how to connect it to your tv.

Assuming you’ve no ‘magic’ wi fi box either which would allow you to ‘mirror’ it, this looks like the most simple way (but not very simple):

Thank you both will have a look tonight. I have wifi but not apple TV or a apple box or nada
Zacs-Master - from experience not all Macs will output. Hence why I asked for the exact model.
Spathiphyllum - the version of the OS will also be relevant.

Also what connections does you tv have?

Do you have pc monitor connection?

Tuvok from the link you provided it is imac 2010 and later
Spath it looks as if you have my old Mac, the 11" MacBook Air. A friend connected mine to the TV one evening and I didn't have a Smart TV at the time. I know we used a lead connecting Mac to TV and then he did some stuff on the Mac and gradually he eased the Mac screen view onto the TV. Don't know how he did it but I know it can be done. Not much help but I thought I'd share that with you;-)
The connection you need might now be called Thunderbolt - which is supposedly backwards compatible with Mini Display Port. However, I have seen someone buy a non-Apple and and Apple adapter, only for them to not work because of the version of the OS.
