In the latest issue of Compers News Jan 2020, we have a snakes and ladders word fit puzzle.
It's on page 20 of the magazine.
In short, this puzzle has got me stumped (not so much the word order but fitting them into the grid accounting for the snakes and ladders) so I was wondering, do these snakes and ladders word fit puzzles feature any where else in another publication?
I was hoping there might be a puzzle mag with them in that would give me some practice and help me get the hang of them.
I always find these puzzles totally impossible, so never manage to complete it. I can't work out what happens when you have to go up a ladder (or down a snake) as there are then umpteen blank squares left, so how can you fill those in if you have left them behind. In my (humble) opinion, this is the worst possible puzzle ever.
It would help if they printed the complete answer - order of words and their placement in the grid so you could get an idea of where one might be going wrong. Given the small prize, it's surprising how difficult they make it.
I always find these totally frustrating. I think the first word is Saint and the very last word is Knack. Does anyone agree with that or have you got any other thoughts
