Just watched the report by Louise Minchin on her visit to the 90 year old concentration camp survivor and her visit to Auschwitz on his behalf. She,IMHO,is a very good broadcaster with great empathy and understanding for and of people.

she is, i am watching the news now and did see that piece.
I agree. In my opinion Louise Minchin is by far the best female presenter on BBC Breakfast.
there are some good reporters for BBC Orla Guerin being one.
Yes, i like Louise best, she's a very good journalist but has a lovely twinkle in her eye.
Is this the one who was the cello player of Aushwitz

I thought she was soft on - you saw these people going to their deaths and went pling-pling=pling, oh well good bye. tomorrow is another day ....

the other thing was the daughter saying - well I am a victim too! any problem and my muvva says - "you got a bit of bread and youre alive then shut up" - I have been damaged too !

I think I am the only one on AB who is a child of a POW (5 y captured at funkirk) - and we used to discuss it with other similar children. The rest had no idea - (obsession with food) (rooting around dustbins - my father was a professional)
My Dad too was a POW with the Japanese, Burma railway.
Pp, my grandad was a POW. My granny didn’t know whether he was alive or not, with two small children and no money.
