Hello I would like to get into advice work like the Citizens Advice Bureaux but I do not have much experience of given advice although I certainly am the right type of person for that type of job.

I have tried to volunteer at CAB but they operate 9 to 5 and I work 9 to 5.

Can anyone suggest any courses in advice which may be useful or suggestions on how to get into the industry

I have looked at some courses but they were over 1,000 way over my price tag

Any suggestions will be appreciated

You don't say what job you're currently doing and whether you're using any transferrable skills. The big problem about the CAB is that you need to have the free time to do their courses in the first place. But your local authority may have a Welfare Rights section, and if so, the work in this job is similar although without the range (mainly benefits problems etc); you may fancy doing some training with them? Also try your local university' students' union's right and advice section.
There is an NVQ in Advice and Guidance that might be of use to you, I think some organisations offer it as on the job training.
