It seems that the term "doh!" or 'D'oh!" was used on the BBC years ago:
"...In 2006, "d'oh!" was listed as number six on TV Land's list of the 100 greatest television catchphrases.[1][2] The spoken word "d'oh" is a sound trademark of 20th Century Fox.[3] Since 2001, the word "doh" has appeared in the Oxford English Dictionary, without the apostrophe.[4] Early recorded usages of the sound "d'oh" are in numerous episodes of the BBC Radio series It's That Man Again between 1945 and 1949..."
It's happened to me too, on other sites, where I'd ask/answer a question but wouldn't look at the date it had been posted.
Often old threads come up in the "related questions" list. If he's a noob, he may not have thought to check the date.
I must go in and clear my subscribed threads up.
