Stuart Macbride Dying Light

This question and hopefully any answers has spoilers.

I have read (plodded) through this book that gets more unbelievable by the chapter. At the end there is a showdown between the cops and the torture loving gangsters. A WPC has taken control of the gun and is pointing it at the gangsters head. The victim's wife pleads with her to shoot them (she knows a pig farmer). End of scene.

Much later the police officers involved submit their report with, we are told, many lies and half truths. We are not told what happened to the gangsters - unless I have missed it. Can anyone tell me if she did shoot them or were they dealt with in some other way? Did they escape? I have read the last two chapters again and cannot get to the bottom of it

She didn’t shoot them and I’m sure they got put in the nick.
