Am I correct in thinking this has something to do with Rugby? (I have a name at 3 down which suggests it is?) My main problem is the perimeter which I can make no sense of - any help would be appreciated!
Three clues are really stumping me, they may have an extra letter in the clue. 9 across: Cachet surrounding queen's raft (6) ??UE?? 4 down: Britannica figure's omitting entries for Eton and Harrow carpetmakers (6) ???LES and 25 down: Introduction of Superman's canine supporter upset monster (6) S?????
Thanks in advance

Nothing to do with rugby. The original entry at 3 Down meant nothing, but it was OK once I got the theme.
The perimeter contains four works - am not sure if they're all books or films.
9. Squeal, rat. Seal, cachet, with Q for queen. (I wasted time with the usual ER).
25 Scylla, monster.
25 - I think it's Ally, supporter (upwards, set up/upset) after S(uperman) and C(anine).
britannica figure is thistle ..lose the t and h (E from Eton was extra)
Thanks, Roslyn. I had the answer for that, but couldn't say how I'd got it!

You're welcome, Ratter. I've just noticed I missed out the 'u' in the abbreviation 'qu'. (You probably realised that!)
