Thanks, Pomona, for shedding some more light on this tricky and challenging puzzle! I am still trying to understand the instructions. For 1(A), I thought the answer was TREASON ( anagram"to +snare" ), but 1(D) seems perfect and begins wit B (ana "Boars +idle +but" ). I'm at it again after a long pause.
