When looking at used cars for sale, I always used to go onto the gov.uk website where it would show you whether it's failed or passed and also show you any advisories. Just gone on the website today and now you need a number from the VC5 document (I think) to be able to view this. When did that change?

I just checked my vehicle and all the site wants is the Vehicle Registration Number. It then tells you the MoT and Tax status plus details of the car.
//You’ll need the 11-digit number from the vehicle’s log book (V5C) to see the test location.//

It seems you do need the VC5 doc to view the actual certificate

Thank you all. I had forgotten it wasn't actually the test certificate I'd viewed previously and that it DOES actually show advisories down the side (if any).
I use a free app called Vehicle Smart which lets me see the full MOT details of any vehicle, including past MOT tests
