Windy willow,I like to watch old films,,but lately I have become a Netflix addict, just recently pigged out on the Crown, and wondering how factual was it?
I said exactly the same, no way could the horrible man have put that chicken dinner on the table in that time. Used to take my mother hours to kill and prepare the chickens we kept when I was small, half of that time was spent with her trying to get the courage to actually kill them. When I'm watching his scenes I find I have my hand in a tight fist 'cos I want so much to punch him!
But it's soapland isn't it...in Emmerdale Doug decided to go and live in Australia, and within a couple of days he was heading for the airport, with all his worldly goods in a suitcase.
Quite often at the beginning of the programme they decide they are moving away, and by the end of the programme you see them going off in a taxi. :0)
windywillow...yes, no concept of time at all...or distance. People keep popping into the (presumably Emmerdale ward) of the hospital and (presumably Emmerdale wing) of the prison as if they're just round the corner from the Woolsack!
I don’t think he is a particularly good actor, its the storyline which has everyone hating him.
He came in as a fairly funnyish characater, if a bit wet, and then gradually changed into this somewhat unhinged control freak who turned a feisty woman into a quivering wreck by his coercive behaviour.
I have to say I was almost hiding behind the settee when he went in to the garden with the knife in his hand - oh no! he's going to kill Charlotte! Yes there is a serious side to this story but that bit really made me want to scream at the tv 'don't do it'. It was the look on his face when he first thought about it too - priceless.
