That you could never have done for yourself anyway?
Theres always lots of debates on AB (or at least r&s) about the existence of God, creation v evolution, the historicity of the Bible etc.
But very simply, what has this 'Being' ever done for YOU?

When I was a teenage fundementalist' Christian I was very taken with stories about how God had helped someone find their lost car keys after a prayer or how someones Aunt Aggie had recovered from an operation. (After a prayer of course).
The Bible tells us that if we pray in faith, that mountains can be moved. Jesus (allegedly) says that his followers will do even greater things than he.
If this is the case, then why arn't christians active in hospital prayer in childrens cancer wards?
Why dont amputees ever grow a limb back after prayer?, Why has Maddie never been found despite the prayers of thousands of christians? Why are there so many people still ill (even terminal) after recieving prayer?

What has God ever done for you, that you didnt do for yourself?

Theland, yes, I do know you of old.
If this god exists, which I doubt, he must have a warped sense of humour.
warped sense of humour indeed, i find the whole
idea absurd.
It doesn't even begin to make sense.
And yes TL, I have read the bible. It's just a story book.
i too have read some of the bible, and no it didn't make me jump for joy.
I believe god has kept my son alive to the surprise of docs and hospitals. If you can spare a minute pls ask god to give my son Frazer back the normal life he had before this scleroderma affliction.
Yes.
Gladly I will Tambo and not for the first time or the last.x
thanx for acting on my post. Frazer has a cough that has brought his oesaphagus into action, it stops gut reflux & helps to keep food down. We're getting there with your help ;)
Great news, small steps.
A prayer going up from me as well, tambo.
I have prayed every night for Fraser.
May God bless him.
I continue to pray for Fraser every day, may God glorify Himself healing Fraser.
God bless you both. X
Tambo - I continue to pray for Fraser every day.
It is not for me to search out the results, but glory be to God. X
God is a big comfort to me.

I 100% believe that the reason my husband is alive (he was given a "few hours" to live by the ICU docs - 3 years ago!).

I do not discount our amazing NHS - but I believe God has given some folk (like the amazing medical team who cared for him) such wisdom to be part of the process of his healing. I believe that NHS and modern medicine saved my husband VIA and BECAUSE OF the grace of God.

However....

I do not know why God sometimes chooses not to answer prayers for peoples loved ones. I wish I did.

Or rather maybe I should say that I do not know why sometimes His answer is not the one we most want to hear.

I only know that in my heart I believe that everything has a reason.

Many will think this is a cop out answer on my side but I just know that is what I personally believe. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course...I'll respect others and just ask that in turn people respect mine.
You have my respect.
Some people like Saint Paul are given the grace to cope with their infirmities and little do they realise at the time, it can bring them closer to God to better serve Him.
May God bless you and your husband.m
Ty Theland - X
