by 2 yes though it's not automatic (I'd have to think a short bit and sometimes use my fingers to count). So division by 2 is ok so long as its no number more than 2 digits that I need to divide. Then as the 2 digit numbers got higher up in numerical value I'd struggle more). 3's no ways lol.
Like I said it doesn't bother me much - it's an inconvenience but it's just how it is with my brain. I've done ok in life despite it..though having internet and AB helps a lot! I'm very open about it so it's quite a joke amongst my family and friends.
Clearly I realised early on in life that working in a bank was not gonna be an option for me. Nor operating a till in a shop. Nor being a taxi driver. a tour guide would be okay - I'd take them to places that even I didn't know existed cos I can't read a map.
But I'm totally okay with how my maths brain is (or isn't!) I'm happy to be me and VERY happy that helpful folk in AB land help me answer questions like my original one in this post. X
Obv at school it was different as I got into a lot of trouble from teachers for always making silly maths mistakes or told I hadn't studied for a test even if I really had tried (I failed maths throughout). Could be worse my husband is naturally left handed but throughout school was forced to write with his right hand... archaic! This isn't even that long ago (he finished school 1986 I think)
Yes we have a small business but any tax queries I've had on here is just about the legalities or HMRC rules etc - I would never do the actual figures myself. I can understand the rules behind HMRC but wouldn't submit the figures myself.
You swerved on the 12 divided by 3. I was going to try to help you do longer calculations by building on your approach to 12 divided by 3. But you seem more than happy to get by with asking others for the answer
I finished school in 1975 and don't remember anyone who was left handed being forced to write with their right. The best sportsmen/girls were always the left handers
F-F: that's the only way I can get by. Believe me if a paid for maths tutor during my school years could not help me understand then no well meaning AB person will. No matter how kind they are to try assist.
I do appreciate you trying to help though.
Yes in this case relying on others to work it out for me, (maths wise) is the best way for me. The only way really.
As an example if a dyslexic person asked for help reading a book could they be taught fast n effectively by another AB person? (that's the closest example I can think of though I admit my issue is not the same)
I'd rather concentrate on things I can do, things I am good at than try re-train my brain at this late stage in my life.

So glad no one in your school was forced to use right hand if they were left handed. Its a crazy notion and a shame for the kids that were forced to do so. Clearly most (but not all) schools were far more sensible. Didn't L vs R affected sporting ability - thats why AB is great ... "live n learn"? I wonder what makes someone Left handed vs Right? Something for me to google right now....
