Is the printer hooked up wirelessly? If so when you try to print do you get a message saying printer off line or something similar? Also check that the printer is connected to your router if it is wireless and that it is being recognised by your ps or laptop or whatever in devices.
To those who have kindly replied. The computer is connectedby USB cable. A friend has just rang to say Windows 10 has just been up graded would that make any differance?
It could. Look in windows settings and devices. Click on window icon bottom left of screen, click on cog wheel(settings) then click on devices then printers and scanners. Is you printer recognised and listed? If so check the box that says Allows windows to manage my default printer. If this is already checked and has the tick then click on the troubleshooter top right. In that page you can also check for printer drivers or that the printer is not offline, in the printer status info.
You probably need to reinstall the printer driver:
Open Settings.
Click on Devices.
Click on Printer and Scanners.
Click on the name of your printer.
Click Remove Device.
Click Yes.
Restart your computer.
Either insert the disk that came with the computer and follow the setup instructions or download the driver setup file from the manufacturer's website and then run it. (If you need help locating the correct file, please tell us the make and model of your printer).
