I’ve just read a review of the book by music journalist Pete Paphides in which he writes about going to the phone box to ring Dial-a-Disc to hear the latest hits.
I’m about the same age as Paphides (50) but don’t remember this service at all. Anyone else?

I bought it for a while too - no they probably wouldn't but then they are all online now.
My boss (from when I actually worked for a living) was/is the current Speaking Clock.

Nice Susan.
Sure. Maybe it was before your time.
Our local phonebox, back in the days of 2p calls had a faulty mechanism that returned the coin and couldn't tell the difference between a 2 and a ship ha'penny.
If only we'd had something interesting to say or listen to during all that free time on the line. :-)
I remember hearing about Dial-A-Disc, but I never used it.
Used it once, not impressed so never bothered again.
