Panic buying, fighting over the last hand gel or pack of nappies?

Yesterday I was told by a NHS nurse people were stealing the large bottles of hand gel kept in the Cancer Ward of the local hospital. How low can some people stoop, and if the ‘crisis’ gets any worse can anyone see anarchy rearing its ugly head?

On the other hand yesterday, in our village co-op, a young lady heard me saying I could not get any anti-bac hand wipes which I need as I’m immune supressed. She said she had an unopened pack in her bag and gave, not sold, them to me.

Any statistics coming out of China must, of course, be read with a degree of scepticism – the country is not a democracy and we know what awaits those who stand up to the Communist regime. There were initial efforts to silence whistleblowers who identified the novel disease. On the other hand, China clearly was reporting surging cases of coronavirus to the WHO throughout January and February, so why should it suddenly have started suppressing them?

You might get confirmation, or not, of warm weather preventing the spread by monitoring what happens here in Girona. There have been confirmed cases in the university, a school, and the council offices – all places that have contact with a lot of other people. The temperature lately has been just under 20 degrees during the day and around 8 to 10 at night. I have been away from the UK a while but imagine that would represent a very good spring day.

Indeed! but no one is suggesting that an increase in temperature will suddenly & automatically halt the virus, but it will prevent its existence outside of hosts & if people take precautions to prevent passing it to one another, it may peak and begin to decline.
