this is a licensing case
she got done because she wouldnt co operate with assessment by her regulator
non coop - you cant really expect to retain or secure a licence

employment is something else - local HR stuff and they are allowed to test for languages if they wish

This is the crux of the matter. How did this happen? Why did it happen? Who is responsible? What needs to be done to stop it happening again?

People seem to be so intent on using this as a crutch to support their own feelings on multiculturalism, that these questions are not being asked.

If that was the case Shoota, then the process needs changing. Learn the language first for a guaranteed job afterwards is the better option.

Things have apparently changed... when I did it, anyone who had qualified in a different country, needed to do both an access course and an English one.

They could just increase the pay... I got a bursary for it, which seems to have stopped and restarted.
