Really isn't hard...
Boil potato untill pretty much done
Fry onion and lardons in butter.
In a caseroll dish / pot mix potato, onion and lardons.
Add cheese on top. Cut a wheel in half or quarters then place on top then compress mixture to squish juices together. Don't worry about shape of potato.
Put a lid on caseroll dish / pot and put it in the oven for as long as you possibly on a medium / hot heat to allow cheese to melt and for flavours to mix.
Eat and enjoy.

Tartiflette is gorgeous - I save making it for deep Winter, reminds me of friends and Winter meals in France.
I've made lovely omelettes using the insides of broad beans - just slit and the 2 tender green halves slide out - and grated cheese, so yours should be good. :) We're having salmon en papilotte, asparagus, peas, boiled potatoes and lemony Hollandaise sauce, when I get going!
