I can tell you (from an outsider's p.o.v. - I'm from Ireland) that the BBC is the finest broadcaster in the worls, and worth every penny of the fee you pay, and more. From radio to tv to digital, you're getting a fantastic service for pennies a day. I've seen tv in the US, Asia, North Africa, and Europe, as well as here at home, and nothing compares. I'd be delighted if we could get that service here.

having to pay for the BBC, whether you watch it or not ? - yes or listen to it or read it via the web
" being forced to pay for the politically biased BBC ? " - as opposed to Rupert Murdoch's views?
" the TV Licence going up as fast as your Council Tax ? " - council tax has increased by 121% since its inception in 1993 - the tv licence by less than 60%
" receiving threatening & intimidating letters from TV Licensing ?" - generally speaking (and I know that there are exceptions) the only people getting these letters are people breaking the law - ie criminals.
