Tesco

Woke up this morning and couldn't get back to sleep so thought I might as well go to Tesco and try and get the things I couldn't get yesterday. I was there about 5.30 and there were cages everywhere stocking the shelves. Their new opening hours are 5 am till 10 pm. I was glad I hadn't been awake at 3 am and gone there to find the store closed.

They are normally stacked as such but last week, the one I got was the last in the polythene wrapper which had contained 12 x 6-packs. All the others were still sealed in their batches of 12 x 6 packs. So the supermarkets are asking folk not to panic buy but are encouraging this by not stacking them as they did before the virus.
"Why are people stockpiling anything?"
Because they are self isolating for two weeks or more and need stuff in the house. This causes people to stock pile so that when they naturally run out they have some to bide them time to get some more.
Is it panic, when people are dieing? Not too sure... Anyone non vulnerable stock buying, yes is panicking but anyone vulnerable, or who deals with the vulnerable should stock and isolate.

I can't see the toilet roll situation improving. People like us who haven't bought any for a few months are now finding shelves empty every time we go will now buy maybe weeks' worth if we do ever find any because it may be the only ones we see for a couple of months. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy
