Woke up this morning and couldn't get back to sleep so thought I might as well go to Tesco and try and get the things I couldn't get yesterday. I was there about 5.30 and there were cages everywhere stocking the shelves. Their new opening hours are 5 am till 10 pm. I was glad I hadn't been awake at 3 am and gone there to find the store closed.

Yes, thanks - chicken to make my husband's fave chicken soup, frozen veg, non-bio Persil but the newspapers weren't out so I'll have to go out again later.

The toilet rolls I buy come in 6-packs. They are normally stacked as such but last week, the one I got was the last in the polythene wrapper which had contained 12 x 6-packs. All the others were still sealed in their batches of 12 x 6 packs. So the supermarkets are asking folk not to panic buy but are encouraging this by not stacking them as they did before the virus.

If the rolls are sealed still, what's to stop folk opening it and taking what they want?

I can't understand the run on eggs - it's not like they are tinned goods or dried goods or paper products, although I did read a tip on freezing eggs by cracking them into ice cube containers but haven't tried it and don't know how they would taste when defrosted.

Because they are self isolating for two weeks or more and need stuff in the house. This causes people to stock pile so that when they naturally run out they have some to bide them time to get some more.

Is it panic, when people are dieing? Not too sure... Anyone non vulnerable stock buying, yes is panicking but anyone vulnerable, or who deals with the vulnerable should stock and isolate.

TCL; There is nothing to stop anyone taking what they want. Had I to open a pack to get one pack out, then I would have done. It just seems a bit suss that they are now left stacked in 12 x 6-pack containers. It's as if Tesco are assisting customers who wish to panic-buy.

I can't see the toilet roll situation improving. People like us who haven't bought any for a few months are now finding shelves empty every time we go will now buy maybe weeks' worth if we do ever find any because it may be the only ones we see for a couple of months. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy

was there any flour? Our Tescos are open all night and sometimes when I have insomnia I'm tempted to go to one of them at 3am; but I haven't seen flour anywhere for weeks.

That's what I had to do, ff. I had to get some from Amazon, so had to get 60, which wasn't my plan. I have given most away to clients now, but it isn't helpful. I will also get a packet of paracetamol or ibuprofen if I ever see any now, just in case we ever need some. Usually I wait until we do.

jno, my local Tesco is a large Extra open 24 hours. I found out yesterday its opening hours have changed to 6am til midnight, so check before you go
