Fit At 69 But At Risk At 70
16 Answers
How does someone who is a fit 69 year old today become an at risk 70 year old on his/her Birthday tomorow. Surely they would be at risk pre their birthday and not suddenly become at risk tomorrow. It does not apply to me for about 18 months but just asking as it puzzles me a little.

oh sorry corona ?
Nigh is wrong again - it is on decade cohort mortality
virtually no one has died under the age of 60 - the youngest in UK is 45 - yesterday
in the world there has been one death under the age of ten y which I think is a death rate of 1 in 80 000
above seventy it is 2% - which you know is kinda more than 1 in 80 000
oh and whilst I am at it - the reason why the govt turned tail yesterday is that they found 20% admission to hospital in Italy needed intensive care and that this would overflow the british availability by a factor of ten
oh and Neil the main maff modeller has got corona - I dont know why that is news. but he is not ill - under 60

At the moment these are just guidelines. If you feel you want to self-isolate, then you should. I know some people over 70 who have no intention of self - isolating and that is their choice. Personally I will be staying at home as I value my life more than socialising. Fortunately I can cope with the situation but I know there are others who don't have the choice of staying home.
Are the Italian stats anything to do with the high numbers of old people in Italy PP?
Yes its the stats and math modelling...not sure why its puzzling, much of community health care is based on age related modelling....routine cancer screening of various kinds for one thing, flu and pneu vacs, access to certain drugs. and so on.
