Further to my post last night about mayonnaise helping to remove water marks.
It doesn't work! Left greasy dark patches on the furniture. I have washed it with soapy water a few times and polished it twice. It has calmed down mostly but the water marks are still there and the surface is slightly darker than the surrounding area.
So the One Show spread untrue facts after all.

lol how can facts be untrue?
The One Show? if ever a show should be taken off TV this is it. Moronic rubbish.
It was Will Kirk (from The Repair Shop) who gave the tip, one that has been around for a long time.

Shame it didn't work,I believe ordinary mayo on a fresh water stain does work in many cases.
I think it depends on the varnish or wax. Its not the wood that marks, its the coating. I have used it on 1930's varnished oak and it worked.
Wasn't egg a mayonnaise or tuna mayonnaise was it?
It's probably worth doing a test on a less visible part first
Caran, can you not see that it did work? Now, instead of a water mark you have a grease mark!
Real mayo works on some finishes, hellmans doesnt
I used hellmans....
