You need a cleared to travel letter from the doc or hospital i believe. if you are ona package holiday your rep will probably have a vague idea but i would very rarely rely on them in an emergency. You may also find u are seperated on the flight home if they are short of extra leg room seats too but u should let the airline know asap that she will need such a seat. Also sort the wheelchair for the airport out, you will probablyboard first, as i say, do not rely on the rep without back up from the airline.

Joey if it me I would phone the airlines local offices and explain the situation, just to make sure that she can be accomodated on your designated flight. I have done that journey I don't envy her! Make sure that you read up on dvt's so that you know the symptoms etc.

it is just so that you can ask questions re asprin etc and wearing one flight sock so on and so forth. The best thing to do is to drink just water, no alcohol .However that may just make going to the loo really interesting. Good luck.
