My mum is the only elderly person in her street, all the lovely young people in her road are fighting over who gets to help her next, I have shoppers, prescription collectors and newspaper picker uppers. Meant I could leave her knowing she will be ok day to day.

That's super and so reassuring isn't it - I live in a block of nine flats and I have had offers from all the other eight to help, even the lady upstairs who is 20 years my senior.x

And some people call them snowflakes.
Well done to all that are helping like this :-)
You are very lucky. I live in a block of 16 flats. I'm sure my next door neighbour would help...he's offered in the past before this crisis. Another neighbour just said today " if you need anything, you know where I am". But no others have offered. But I'm not sure I'd expect those with kids to do so. The oldest lady in our block is 80 something and very frail, though her husband is a good deal younger, and has always done their shopping. So I hope they are ok.
How heartwarming, good for them.
Not all young people are selfish, arrogant etc., some are caring, respectful and kind. It is the way their parents raised them!

I thInk most are good, kind and decent, this has just shown it
I know your mother's neighbour's have good intentions but I don't think it's a good idea for so many people to be doing errands for her, there's more risk there. Can they arrange between themselves for one person to pick up and drop off whatever she needs?

I have arranged contact with the one she has known longest and she will tell me and I will text him. I have picked a reliable reserve...the rest can help one another.
