Problem With Hands- Little Lumps Under Skin And Swelling

Morning All, hope everyone is keeping safe and well.
My boyfriend has developed a problem on his hands- they have lots of little lumps under the skin and are swollen. He works outside but doesn't recall being in contact with any chemicals or weird plants. He has spoken to a Doctor who didn't have a clue what it is. Anyone any ideas please? Thank you.

I used to suffer with tiny, fluid-filled lumps which were very itchy and then broke down to sore red areas....palms and side of fingers.

He could have the beginning of De Putyrens contraction.I have a couple of these little lumps.
