Any one who believes the Government is on top of things in the Corona crisis needs to watch this morning's Andrew Marr Show and the Michael Gove car crash interview.
From the email from the EU that no one saw and "it went to spam" to the companies in UK who told the P M they had thousands of ventilators available but no one answered their emails.
Gove, "I'll get on to that right away".
Marr, "Too late they have already gone to other countries".

Please usual commentators do not come back with the usual "political " bilge.
This is about keeping us alive and they are doing a woeful job.

Psychotic, more like.
Sorry, the Tories won the election because there wasn't a viable alternative on offer. I'm a "leftie", but even I can see that Corbin had become a liability with his weak leadership, not to mention the still unresolved antisemitism issue.
Just an impression gained from listening to people and reading their comments here...and actually I do agree that Corbin did not present as a viable leader...but there were other alternatives .All I ever heard from those who claimed to have voted tory was Brexit....nothing else and all I saw from the tory manifesto was brexit....
that's because the public wanted brexit and the VBQC were trying to deny them. They therefore elected a pro brexit government to implement the result of the referendum. It WAS the overriding issue of the GE.
No ventilators because of a lost email .Shortage of nurses ,doctors and social care workers, cleaners etc. Nobody to pick the fruit and veg which will shortly be coming into season.
All those people made to feel unwanted and told they were citizens of nowhere so they went home. Now we need them and their skills. You reap what you sow.
54 mins in. There were some awkward questions, sidestepped, but it could have been worse. Unsure I'd call it a car crash, more a case of not being infallible. I don't expect perfection but it does seem that they got off to a slow start behind the scenes, and are now turning the screw in the hope that, that will somehow compensate.
They need to stay in their own countries and not bring a second wave over.
* Where is the PPE gear for key workers?
* How are the Germans able to test so many more people than the Brits for Coronavirus?
* How did we miss buying so many ventilators and parts that our own manufacturers and suppliers sent them abroad?

The Government may be "doing their best" ... of course they are ... but their best is based on their own ideology and confirmation bias. They have made some massive errors and they are still reacting to events rather than putting proper planning in place.

For example, on the last two Monday evenings, the following without warning:

* Monday 16 March: if you can work at home, you must work at home as of now.
* Monday 23 March: lockdown. Allowed out once a day for exercise, all non-essential retail outlets to close

What's going to come tomorrow - total lockdown? No workers in warehouses or delivery drivers, unless supplying essential items? Leaving millions of orders stranded in transit. That would be a typical Monday announcement. Whereas they could have, last Monday, announced that would be happening this Monday ...

From the (right-wing) Sunday Times. This is not political gaming from the left.
